International Childcare Trust is a small dynamic UK registered charity working, in direct partnership with local organisations in Africa and Asia that protect children’s rights; such as their right to education and to a healthy, happy childhood. ICT currently works in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and India with key Southern partner NGOs who take an integrated approach to child development combining the delivery of practical assistance with capacity building and advocacy initiatives. Practical assistance includes supporting direct benefits to disadvantaged children, their families and communities, e.g. quality education, improved healthcare, income generation schemes, vocational training, rehabilitation and reintegration of children. We always enhance the capacity of our partner organisations through information sharing and training opportunities and helps promote our partners' projects through raising their international profile, offering expert advice and helping to raise much needed funds. ICT achieves these objectives by designing, implementing and managing projects in conjunction with local people according to their needs and within the culture of the country of operation. Projects are managed and staffed by local people. Our work depends on the funds that we raise! Most of our activities are funded by grants from government organisations, UK and European trusts and donations from businesses and individuals. For more information on the ICT and the projects they are involved in, please visit our web site, www.ict-uk.org. |
